STARIA supports people who have lost a baby at any stage during or after pregnancy.

Staria's aim is to provide a nurturing, safe & loving haven of support to families who have experienced the loss of a baby at any point during & after pregnancy.

 

Going through miscarriage, still birth or losing a baby after pregnancy, is a very traumatic experience and is something that people do not talk about . So having support is very comforting.

 

The founders have been through this grief first hand & are greatly inspired to set up an organisation which has a team of people, offering the amazing therapies that has transformed their lives.

 

Staria provides personal & group sessions combining a variety of techniques and therapies all uniquely tailored to the needs of the individual.

 

We have a specially selected team of therapists who are  very caring, compassionate & knowledgable.

It does not matter when your loss occured, we wish to provide our clients the opportunity to release their grief & be heard.

 

For those of you who have not been through the trauma of losing a baby, however, would like to understand & help in any way, we have described below the medical definitions of miscarriage, stillbirth & neonatal death.

 

 

 

What is it......

 

MISCARRIAGE
The medical definition of miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of a pregnancy before 24 weeks’ gestation, when the foetus has a chance of survival outside the womb.

Miscarriages can be described as early or late. An early miscarriage during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. A late miscarriage occurs between 12 & 24 weeks.
Around 250,000 women a year miscarry.

 

STILLBIRTH
The medical definition of a still birth is the death of a baby after 24 weeks of pregnancy or during labour.
4,000 people a year experience a still birth in the UK.

 

NEONATAL DEATH
The death of a live born infant during the first 28 days after birth. An early neonatal death is the loss of a baby up to 7 days old.
2,042 neonatal deaths in 2012.
